Beetlejuice, also known as Betelgeuse, is a bio-exorcist character originating from the 1988 Tim Burton film of the same name. He is portrayed as a crude, mischievous, and chaotic spirit who can be summoned by the living through reciting his name three times.

In the film, Beetlejuice is hired by recently deceased couple, Adam and Barbara Maitland, to scare away the Deetz family, who have moved into their home. His methods are often extreme and backfire, leading to comedic and often terrifying situations.

Following the film's success, Beetlejuice became the central character in an animated television series that ran from 1989 to 1991. This version of Beetlejuice is depicted as more of a mischievous friend, particularly to a living girl named Lydia Deetz. The cartoon softened his character, removing much of his maliciousness for a younger audience.

Throughout both the film and the animated series, Beetlejuice's ultimate goal is often to return to the land of the living, though his methods and motivations differ slightly between adaptations. He remains a popular and recognizable character, known for his striped suit, green hair, and penchant for causing trouble.
